structure in a meeting
… is absolutely essential. While on really badly structured meeting I was thinking about the importance of structure. You’re saying to yourself .. no shit, Sherlock! and you are absolutely right!
Anyway. If you need results and have limited time, prepare a general agenda of the meeting and define goals for everything on the agenda prior to the meeting. You should also send it in advance along with the timetable. Limited time for each agenda entry can cause some problems, but it will force you to be more effective.
However, Herr Structure itself can cause problems - if you need creativity and have time, ditch the strict agenda, or compile agenda at the beginning of the meeting with some really cool method and behave really cool all the way. Yay!
Damn it, we should have used Herr Structure.
